Looking for suitable venue in the north of england
Hi there,
I am part of the convention planning team for the Northern Magic
Circle. We are currently in the process of looking for a suitable
venue in the north of England to hold our 2011 magicians convention.
This is usually held over a weekend in March/April where we expect to
have around 200 registrants attend although this may increase slightly
if the success of the re-launch this year continues at next year’s.

The convention itself consists of several lectures, competitions, a
dealers area consisting of approximately 20 stands, outside stunts,
shows for registrants and also a children’s show and a theatre gala
show which are also open to the public. We also require an area for
refreshments and general ‘chillin’ in between events. Obviously with
the nature of the event the venue would need to be secure. The venue
would also need to be in an area where accommodation is easily
available. In the past we have also split venues so that we could be
accommodated and this is something we may also consider once again if
they are close enough together.

Id be grateful if anyone out there could recommend somewhere that may
be suitable for us.

Magical regards

Paul

A phonebook and Google should return some results, then all you have to
do is call and make the booking. Or do you want everyone to do that for
you too!

I've just been to a conference thing at a casino in Leeds (Next to the
Armouries) - it was all on on floor with a big room that easily split
into three for separate talks.
There was a nice area out by the bar where lunch was served (buffet)

I have also been to the 235 Casino in Manchester for a networking
event, so I assume casinos are always available.

Pick your town and ring a couple of places up and ask if they have
conference venues.
Or ring the council's ... if you can get through to the tourist sort
of info bit you might find some bright soul who's compiled local lists
of this sort of venue.
