Time for a Bridge .....Private funding with no input from the ferry
companies.

never going to happen...There will be no interest whatsoever. The toll
to recover the money although less than the ferry would have people up
in arms, just like the Skye Bridge. They may or may not be happy
paying £35-45 per leg on the ferry,(I've still yet to meet a guest who
has complained about it in 5 years) but will not pay £20 to drive their
own cars here and our road structure and parking are insufficient (and
always will be) to cope.

The only real solution would be a rail bridge connection

For someone to suggest that private capital might be available to buy
up the necessary land, obtain all the consents, and finally build a
bridge in the present financial climate, merely demonstrates that they
have absolutely zero knowledge of business.

"" in the present financial climate"" .........is here to stay is it?

Might I respectfully and humbly suggest you get your head out of the sand?

Do you watch the Footsie?

Kindest possible regards

if there was going to be a bridge to the mainland it would have been
done when the Island was at its peak by a Mr I K Brunel.

Nobody has any incentive and there is no return in building a bridge to
the Island, unless, the ferry companies are involved or British Rail has
a brainstrorm.

And thank god for that...who wants to be a suburb of Portsmouth or
Southampton

For once I must agree 100%...................proposals for a multi
million £ bridge to connect the IOW to the mainland are completely
ridiculous.

My posts are read and enjoyed by many people on
usenet..................and if you had heeded my advice to tone down
the content of your posts concerning bunt, you may well not have ended
up cringing to him in order to avoid being had over in
court..................

But as recent events seem to strongly confirm bunts status as a nonce,
you were certainly correct on that point, and its very likely
something you have in common with him!
