For some reason, I stopped really liking NBA about 20 years ago. It
became 'just another beer'. An exception was when I stayed in the Ramada
Plaza Hotel, in Meriden, Connecticut.

After a long transatlantic flight and a 100+ mile drive, I found that
they had NBA on draught in the bar. That was something I'd never had
before. It was absolute nectar!

I know a lad who went to Canada back in the early '90s, and he said they
had broon on tap over there, but to be honest, it makes economic sense
to ship it over in barrels rather than glass bottles.

I heard that S&N applied to the EU and got protection that only brown ale
brewed in Newcastle could be called that. The injunction or whatever it is
called however, allows them to move production wherever thay want as they
own the copyright.

I am a bit dubious about them shipping it out there, as it would make more
sense
to brew it in the states as that is exactly how it tastes. Bud with added
brown bits.

Newcastle Brown went down hill some years ago.
The Exhibition stuff nose dived with it.

No great loss.

Geographic Protection Status was removed a couple of years ago, after the
move to Gateshead.

Yep. I did. Only marginally though. Years ago Sunderland had just about the
best tap water in the country. It was hard water then, from limestone wells,
without added chlorine and fluoride. If the Tadcaster water's as hard maybe
NBA will taste better than ever.

Scrumpy Jack cider wise.....

Newcy Brown is legendary after the demise ov Double Maxim....

Perhaps that Ashley fella should buy the Newcy Brown brand after he offloads
yer footy team!

Then again he might turn it into tea?

DM hasn't demised - it's as nice as ever. If only it was in brown 1pt
bottles as formerly...

I've never liked N*wcastle Brown - nor is it liked by most of the real
beer afficionados. And that's not just because of its origin.

One or two places sell DM on draught. Vaux only brought it out towards
the very end so it's a bit hard to compare, but I still like it (say
at the Chesters).
