My doctor put me on anti-depressants for post-operative pain.
They helped with the pain, and they helped me sleep, and they
cheered me up!

You failed to mention the side-effect where you can't believe scientists 
anymore.

I sure don't need them now - I've just had the results of two scans
(both fine), and my doc (who usually sees me every four months)
doesn't want to see me for a year! :)
