There's only one photo there and I'm not sure what I'm looking at when I
view it.

There are arrows at the top of the page that change the pictures.

There are loads, and rather nice - rich autumn colours. Norway's way ahead
of us so far as autumn goes. It's only just beginning here.

Pouring cats and dog. Guns going off everywhere around us. Hunting season is
on. Me no like.

We had a really nice day, except a little cool for early October. No
shooting allowed in the city, so it was peaceful. All cats and dogs alive,
healthy, and dry.

My dog Pace is scared of guns. (Wise dog, you might say.) She is also scared
of fireworks, thunder and low-flying aircraft. It's a hard life she leads.

I'll never forget her fear when (a gun went off ?) near your back garden,
probably on shore. Pace could have been a wipet the speed she passed me and
ran into the house. White lighning.
I felt sorry for her but consoling her was quite impossible.

Sounds like the dog has more sense than you do when there's guns going off.

Apparently consoling her is the wrong thing to do, although it's hard not to
want to. It seems that if you respond in any way to her fear, it makes her
think she's right to be afraid, and it makes her worse. You're supposed to
ignore her and behave as though nothing had happened. I do try to do this,
but it doesn't really stop her being frightened, and if it's something like
fireworks, or thunder, that goes on and on, she just cowers in a corner
until it's over. Poor doggie.

I shall tell her! I'm sure it'll make her feel better.

Incidentally, I've just recently discovered that this dog, whom we've had
for over 10 years, spells her name in 2 different ways: I've always spelled
it PACE but Steve has apparently been spelling it PAICE. Neither of us has
ever seen the other writing it down, until Steve started uploading photos to
Flickr . . . I quite like the spelling with the 'I' in the middle, but I'm
so used to doing it the other way . . .

Paice thought I shot the gun and she looked at me with hate and still does.

No, you were just in the wrong place when it went, "bang!" She doesn't hate
you. She doesn't hate anyone, though admittedly she takes her time to get to
know people. Best thing to do is to ignore her completely when you come to
our house, and eventually her curiosity will get the better of her and *she*
will make friendly advances to *you*.
