Windows XP Home SP-2 Shares
Up until yesterday I could share drives M: and N: with another XP computer
and a Linux box.

Today I can no longer do so. Appears to have happened after installing
AVG-9.

Error is that 'the specified server can't perform the required operation.'

- I have adjusted the IRPStackSize entry in the registry.
- I have run shrpubw at the command prompt, but this makes no difference
as it says the shares already exist.

- This is only happening on two external hard drives on the USB. All the
other shared pen-drives and the shared directories on C: and D:
  (internal HDs) are still OK.

  Any ideas?

Uninstall AVG 9 and see if the problem goes away. The only change is
that so it follows that its probably the problem.

I was about to try that, but if 9 has made changes to the
registry as I suspect, I'd have thought that uninstalling it is unlikely
to change them back!

  Worth trying though! Thanks.

  It did work. Thanks again.

No problem. Golden rule is that if something doesn't work that used to,
try to think of what has changed in that time and reverse it.
