Is it possible to set up a router to preference the VOIP port

I have a linksys SP3102 VOIP adaptor linked to my wireless D Link
DSL-604+ router. My SP3102 is Ethernet hardwired to my router, as is
my PC. Problem I have is that if there is any heavyweight internet
activity on my PC, it makes my VOIP connection (VOIPTalk) crap. When
nothing is happening on my PC, VOIP is great ...

lines to work at the same time, someone mentioned I had to allow for

Sipgate with one way audio

I have now setup an account and downloaded X-lite softphone but have audio
problem whereby I can hear the incoming audio but the outgoing audio does
not work. I have PC with Vista and use Logitech camera with microphone for
the outgoing audio. With both Skype and MS Messenger I have no audio
problems.

As the subject,
I have a friend who for some strange reason has lots of Skype buddies (God
forbid I thought), I talked him into the VOIP world and the benefits of
voipcheap (or similar) and sipgate (or similar) for incoming. He wants to
still talk to his Skype buddies too on the phone.

It is claimed that these numbers can be accessed from standard telephones as
any geographic number can and at the same cost. Is that reliably the case?
Can they be called from abroad?
