Long delay with texts

I know that texts are not guaranteed nor are they instant, but I
received one at 10,00 am Monday, sent 4.40pm Sunday (so, 17 hours) and
my wife had a 6 hour delayed text on Saturday. We are both on Vodafone,
the senders are 'unknown network' and O2 respectively, all in the same
part of the UK.

Virgin Mobile - is online account access any good?

I was with Virgin Mobile about 4 years ago and found that their online
account access was useless - there seemed to be very little
relationship between the calls made and the info on their website.
Are things any better now? I've noticed that their Liberty SIM gives
massive numbers of minutes and unlimited texts ...

Why is it that market stall holders and key cutting shops appear to be
able to unlock phones for a small fee but the big mobile stores such as
carphone warehouse don't touch them.
A few years back I unlocked numerous Nokias using data cables and free
software but nowadays it seems a difficult procedure.
