Fix for Three fallback to Orange GPRS packet loss
16 Aug 2009 21:22:57 GMT
I've posted here before about how Three's 3G network is moderately solid
when you're in range, but as soon as you drop down to 2G as outsourced to
Orange, connections start getting really slow, packets drop all over the
place and can take up to a minute to arrive:

Orange Home Broadband
Sun, 16 Aug 2009 15:41:32 +0100
I've been looking at Orange Home Broadband (home max)
Does anyone have any opinions on the service, quality of the second
line, fair usage policy (phone and data), technical support, equipment
supplied etc.

ADSL Filters
Thu, 13 Aug 2009 12:03:27 +0100
Just had an Openreach engineer round. He was testing the downstream speed
at my main socket and reckoned it was low. For some reason he asked if he
could use my filter and replaced his bog standard BT one with it. Up the
synch rate went by almost 800 kbps, so they are important bits of kit
aren't they? I ...

Sky Broadband Any Good?
Thu, 13 Aug 2009 09:35:27 +0100
I'm another victim of the credit crunch and need to cut costs if possible.
I use ADSL24 as my net provider at ¡ê19 per month.
I want sky sports again but am thinking that if I also took Sky's broadband
service I could bin the ADSL24 and use that ¡ê19 to pay for sky sports and
sky broadband.
Question is how good/b ...

I need a new modem/router
Tue, 11 Aug 2009 18:40:24 +0000 (UTC)
I have just been upgraded to 21CN and ADSL2+. My Zyxel P660R-61C does
not like to play ball and gives dreadful sync rates. I have dropped
from 8m to 3.5 :-(
So I need a new one. Googling around there do seem to be problems with
Zyxels in general (and almost anything really). I was steered towards
Billion, bu ...

Basic hosting recommendation?
08 Aug 2009 23:17:10 +0100 (BST)
I looked around for a hosting newsgroup and could only find
alt.internet.providers.uk, which seems to be quite dead. So I wonder if
someone here could recommend a hosting provider (or point to a more suitable
newsgroup)?
I have a bunch of domains (10 or 11, pointing to three real sites) that
want web and mai ...
