BT out of the picture for fast broadband?

Has BT lost te race to be a fast broadband provider? Seeing as they have
not got an infrastructure in place to provide fast broadband (I am talking
50~100 mbit or more), and looking at what they have not done to make this
happen, it looks increasingly unlikely that BT will ever be able to provide
such high speeds ...

A friend told me that the split needed to run phone and broadband is
made at the exchange.
But I have read that the split is made in the users home using a
splitter.
Can anyone explain.

If you currently use the o2 Wireless Box 2 or 3 you will no doubt be aware
that o2 is supplying the routers and encouraging people to use them KNOWING
there is a security problem.

OT - LAN problem, XP

I used to be able to browse to other computers on my LAN to copy files
and folders, except now I can't. My Computer > and clicking 'View
workgroup computers' just produces a bong error noise. My Network
Places is also empty. I can ping, print to a LAN printer, use the
internet, email and etc..

My father has just had his IP-Stream based ADSL service upgraded from a fixed
2 Meg service, to an 'up to 8 Meg' rate adaptive service.
I've taken a look at his router stats.
d/s sync 7.6 Meg u/s 832 k SNR was hovering between 8 and 9 dB

How to escalate a complaint within OFCOM?

I have recently had cause to complain to Ofcom (and had to chase to get a
reply) only to received a standard letter sent by someone who had clearly
not bothered to read what I had written.
Is there a procedure to escalate a complaint within Ofcom?
