Explorer camps
Sun, 30 Aug 2009 02:29:17 GMT
I sat this morning over breakfast at camp discussing it with a few of the
15/16 year olds and we reached a few interesting conclusions about how
things have changed in the past few years.
50 years ago we would have used elsans, and have a cold wash in a bowl. Now
we use toilet blocks with hot showers. Most ES ...

We have just come back from another super week at Blacklands Farm so thanks
again to Bryn and the team for being as brilliant as usual.
Highlights for us were defiatley the sandstone climbing and kayaking on the
reservoir, and everybody getting the grades they needed for the next steps
of their education.

If you've Word2003, or (heaven help you) Word2007, this link takes you
to a prog that does the job. I used Avery A4 label size, chose a

pie and earing
Sat, 29 Aug 2009 08:21:16 -0700 (PDT)

off back of GPO lorry). In other words the polyprop rope used to pull
cables through ducting.
That's largely all we have in lashing lengths.
I need better if I want to teach ...

re: expedition challenge thread- just back from Summer camp
(abbreviated for various reasons and "only" at Gilwell.) the bigger
"only" was "only" 5 kids -all PL/APLs. Gilwell was, as always wholly
excellent.
However just got castigated by Great and Good when I revealed that
we'd done a "blindfold drop hike" where ...

Holiday Thoughts...
Fri, 21 Aug 2009 14:27:04 +0100
Isn't it always great to get away on holiday. The opportunity always comes
to see how much greener the grass is somewhere else. How many of us come
back from holiday wondering how we might fund that holiday home at our
favourite destination.
Of course, the reality is, for most of us, that it will never happen, ...

Are the National Activity Centres getting used?
Thu, 20 Aug 2009 04:49:03 -0700 (PDT)
I was at Youlbury yesterday, visiting a group who were camping there,
and I was stunned that there were only two fairly small groups camping
there, and no on-site activities taking place. I had expected that at
one of our main National Activity Centres in the middle of the summer
holidays, I wouldn't be able to m ...
