I really have never been interested in using poles and whips, seemed a step
back to use a stick with line tied to the end.
However, my grandson ( aged just 4 ), has started fishing with me and he has
difficulty in understanding the needs to mend line and keep tension so I

Just bought "The Dorling Kindersley Encyclopedia of Fishing" from the works
(discount book store. ¡ê6.99 would recommend to anyone with an interest in
the hobby, especially someone new to the sport or who has has some time off.

I'am new to fishing after 20 years absence. I have no spool holders to
attatch to my rod and just wondered what is the best way to load up my
spools with new line?

Maximum linefill on spool

After a long long spell of being away from fishing, i'm about to start up
again so this may seem a daft question;
how far up the spool depth should i go to maximum fill?
I'm using a fixed spool with new line on and realise too much on the spool
can almost be as bad as too little.

Just a quick question about a pike I caught yesterday.
I caught a pike that was about 3 feet long. As I have no scales, I have no
idea what it might have weighed. Would anyone be able to give a rough
estimate as to its weight?
