Fucking treason?
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 20:55:07 +0000
Is it an act of treason, contrary to Treason Act 1351 (c. 2), to cuckold
HRH Prince Brian, or would the alleged lovers of the late and much
lamented Princess of Hearts get off on the technicality that the Act
refers specifically to the issue of a King rather than a Queen?

Dare one call it treason?
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 15:55:06 +0000
Is it unlawful in the UK to imagine or to campaign for the abolition of
the monarchy?
Would it be considered seditious libel, or something worse, to publish
such comments on a UK-based webpage?

SoGA - obtaining "independent evidece"
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 14:50:09 +0000
My daughter's laptop went t*ts up last night. A quick browse of the internet
resulted in many hits describing the exact same problem - and makeshift
solutions for people who don't want to pay for a new motherboard. (The
problem appears to be a design fault leading to overheating of the video
card, which is sol ...

Clarification of "notice in writing" in relation to redundancy
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 11:35:08 +0000
I recently received notification of redundancy. My contract states both
parties need to give 28 days notice in writing to terminate employment.
The letter was dated 22/10/09 and sent out (standard first class) on the
eve of the postal strike. I received the letter on 28/10/09. My employer
say notice is effect ...

First Sale Doctrine - UK Equivalent?
Fri, 30 Oct 2009 16:00:22 +0000
In the US since 1908, there has been an established First Sale Doctrine
which essentially allows purchasers to re-sell copyrighted products.
Recently, this legislation has come to the defense of a number individuals
who were pursued by software publishers for reselling software.
In one case, Microsoft sued a guy ...

Dodgy Picture?
Thu, 29 Oct 2009 23:35:09 +0000
I went on site in connection with my job and saw to some concern a photo
hanging on the wall of what appeared to be a family in the nude lying on
top of each other side ways on facing the camera.
On the bottom was daddy, lying on top of him was mommy, then two sons
and finally a daughter on top.
I would be ...

Paying the same amount into pension scheme but get different returns
Thu, 29 Oct 2009 20:20:09 +0000
This is quite long and am not sure if it is a legal question or
financial one
I work in the railway industry. If you joined before privatisation
then your pension cannot be changed without an act of parliament. If
you are happy to pay the contributions then it must continue. This
was done as a part of the pa ...

Unfair terms for bathroom equipment?
Wed, 28 Oct 2009 09:05:13 +0000
I am looking through various brochures for fitting out a bathroom. The
major suppliers have guarantees of 25 years or more on what they supply,
but one particular company's products are only guaranteed for 12 months.
Surely this is unfair, in the context the of Sale of Goods Act, where,
as I understand it, go ...
