Human Rights Act, Schools & Photography
Wed, 11 Nov 2009 09:55:21 +0000
Local school has stated in a letter that the Human Rights Act
'requires' them to obtain permission from parents to take
photographs.
I've looked into this and cannot see any such requirement. Some say
that preventing school event (as opposed to admin) photography may be
a breach of the HRA.
So, is the HRA l ...

Conflicting holiday final payment dates
Wed, 11 Nov 2009 04:30:20 +0000
About 6 weeks ago I booked a cruise on-line with one of the major travel
agents. At the time of booking and immediately after paying the deposit
by credit card, I received an e-mail confirming the details of my
booking as it had been shown on screen.
The subject of this question to you learned gentlefolk is t ...

In a building, built in early 1800. How do you determine the property
borders from the deeds of that time?
My local real ale landlord wants to buy another pub and one its
neighbours is disputing the boundary line between the pub and a piece of

If goods are paid for, can there be a theft?
Tue, 10 Nov 2009 12:45:32 +0000
I'm just listening to You & Yours - a woman tried to buy some wine from
a supermarket but was refused because the supervisor said she didn't
believe that the woman was not going to give the wine to her teenage
daughter. The woman left the correct cash at the till and took the wine.
To cut a long story short, ...

Hi All,
I live in a terraced street in an area that has lots of alleyways
leading to back gardens etc.
One of these alleys runs alongside my flat.
Often people dump rubbish in the alley. As of the weekend there are 2
large armchairs, a mattress and lots of other junk. The alley is
inaccessible.
In the p ...

Good defence or absolute discharge
Mon, 09 Nov 2009 22:40:06 +0000
The BBC has a fairly poor article on defences to a speeding charge:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8350539.stm
In it they argue that the law allows for speeding under some
circumstances and quote the chair of the "Magistrates' Association's
road traffic committee" as saying "If they thought it was appropr ...

Debtors and bankruptcy
Mon, 09 Nov 2009 18:15:07 +0000
If you have a CCJ against an individual, and that individual
subsequently files for bankruptcy, does that mean that any chance of
getting any payments from the CCJ (ie via attachment of earnings etc) at
any time in the future is gone? ...
