Google Fees and VAT

Hi,
im a bit confused about Vat.. and the fees charged by Google (and
paypal for that matter)
say i sell an Item for 251.87 net on my website here in th uk to a uk
customer I am obliged to collect 17.5% VAT on behalf of her majesties
government, ¡ê44.08 in my example giving a total of ¡ê295.95 to collect.
