Yet another what car post
Fri, 13 Nov 2009 03:01:22 -0800 (PST)
For my dad.. he reckons this will be his last car purchase..
So, 4 doors, 2-litre petrol (he's in Athens, he can't have a diesel,
and anything larger than 2 litres gets *hammered* on tax). Other than
that, money no object..

Ultra low profile tyres for sedate drivers only?
Mon, 02 Nov 2009 08:25:54 GMT
I've just got around to watching my recording of the recent Watchdog that
talked about ultra-low profile tyres. Seems that the rims are prone to
cracking on the UK's roads and that the car manufacturers are loathe to
replace them on warranty, tending to reject the claims and blame the
driver, saying that cars wit ...

Tax Band K
Sat, 31 Oct 2009 15:08:34 -0000
Band K includes vehicles over 225g/km but registered pre March 2006.
Otherwise, these would fall into band L, which costs nearly ¡ê200 a year
more. Does anyone know whether this concession is due to be phased out? If
so, when?

What to buy?
Wed, 28 Oct 2009 12:18:27 -0000
So, the position is that a lovely lady drove into the door of our 1995 3
series**. It's clearly repairable, but probably beyond economic repair -
it's still driveable for now. Hopefully her insurers will pay for the
damage.
The real question is whether to trade the car in under the scrappage scheme
or buy s ...

4 x 4 Rear Lights
Tue, 27 Oct 2009 16:20:33 -0000
I find myself wondering why most (maybe all) 4 x 4's seem to have 2 pairs of
clusters of rear lights. Some at bumper level and some higher up.
Is it styling? Is it to make it easy to comply with regulations in different
markets?
Any answers?
