Best format for a simple eBrochure?
Fri, 27 Feb 2009 17:01:41 -0000
A colleague has a PowerPoint slideshow which shows off his small business,
and it runs to nearly 10MB (lots of pix), so it's a challenge to email out
to clients, as many quite rightly apply limits to email size.
Is there an alternative format which would have a much smaller footprint and
be relatively simple ...

Fri, 27 Feb 2009 07:19:17 -0800 (PST)
II have an (2.x) Apache server on which I have some information in one
directory I want to protect from prying eyes. (It's not overly
confidential, so the utmost in secrity is not needed) I know how to
* Password to protect a directory, using the most basic form, which is
fine for this application.

OT & done to death, I'm sure ... but how to find a reliable web host/registrar?
Thu, 26 Feb 2009 07:36:05 +0000
I'm not necessarily asking for a recommendation for a web
host/registrar, more how to find reliable and authoritative reviews!
The plethora of weird and wonderful names ostensibly "reviewing and
recommending" providers (presumably those who pay the best) is not
comforting!
Is there a reliable, authoritative r ...

The wordpress site I designed has been running fine for 7 weeks, then at the
weekend I got a phone call telling me both the home and log-in pages were
out of order with errors;
Every index.php of all directories has been corrupted with </html> which is
already set in the footer php, the source codes are spray ...

<pre> with very long source lines
Mon, 23 Feb 2009 15:13:51 +0000
I'm writing something which is mainly preformatted text but with
lots of links on individual characters, so the source lines are
likely to be a few thousand characters long for a display no more
than 80 characters wide. The code uses only a very small subset
of HTML 4.0 strict, no funny tricks at all.
Will tha ...

Notepad Plus - ANSI or Unicode?
Thu, 19 Feb 2009 11:15:59 -0000
I downloaded Notepad+ and got those 2 versions in the zip. What should I be
using for web languages?
If anybody has a simple explanation for the A/U then do give it, but I have
bigger things on my hands so it's not important.

property rentals module?
Tue, 17 Feb 2009 13:16:15 -0000
A colleague's been asked to knock up a website for a property rental company
and was wondering whether there were any good modules in, say, Joomla/Mambo
which would do the job?
His graphical layout is fairly restrictive, so there needs to be a good
element of adaptability, and he wants to be able to add his o ...
