PSOT Model variations
Mon, 12 Oct 2009 20:25:03 +0100
Can abyone tell me the difference between the 3/4/6/8 series TVs
by Samsung. An elderly friend needs a new TV and the LE26B350 and
LE26B450 both look good, but what is the difference? There is
also the T240HD (yes, I know it's only 24") but in what way is
that different from the others. I have been ignored by ...

Reliable and Easy-to-use PVR?
Mon, 12 Oct 2009 06:14:06 -0700 (PDT)
This is for my Mum.
I thought Freesat might be the answer: it's not cheap, but reception
conditions shouldn't change over the next five years, and it won't
require a tall pole on her chimney struggling to see through
neighbour's growing trees!
Unfortunately our Humax Freesat PVR is neither reliable nor easy-t ...

C5 DTT. They're having a laugh, surely ?
Sun, 11 Oct 2009 20:02:56 +0100
Just taken a look at C5 DTT. The bit rate is so low, that their DOG actually
disintegrates if there's any serious movement in the picture !
Is it just Hannington, or crap on all transmitters ?

Proception X Series Amps
Sun, 11 Oct 2009 19:16:11 +0100
On the blake site at http://www.blake-uk.com/page/proception_domestic
there are two dual mode amplifiers and I am puzzled as to the difference
between the two.
There is the X-series dual mode and the dual mode masthead amp and I
can't honestly see the difference.
I have the variable gain (Not dual mode) fi ...

Skybox into Standby
Sun, 11 Oct 2009 19:09:07 +0100
I've got an old Amstrad skybox.
Occasionally it displays a message saying it is going into standby,
I've noticed this more when the radio channels are selected but this may
be coincidental.
Anyone know how to prevent this?

3D test on Channel 4
Sun, 11 Oct 2009 09:39:03 +0100
I set my Topfield PVR to record a programme on Channel 4 which DigiGuide was
showing for 0405 last night (Sunday 11 October). What was broadcast wasn't
what was in the schedule but a test transmission for 3D television.
I find it difficult to take the idea of 3D television seriously, but it
looks as though som ...

Reception/picture quality problems since retune
Sat, 10 Oct 2009 23:13:44 +0100
Initially everything appeared to be OK after the retune - no stations
missing.
We get our signal from the Lancaster transmitter (Granada area via Winter
Hill)
Recently I have noticed that Five and ITV1 have intermittent pixilation of
the whole picture (I don't mean the break up that occurs due to
interferenc ...

DVB-T2
Sun, 11 Oct 2009 01:34:28 +0800
Are Germany and France using DVB-T2 for their HDTV already? As UK is
developing DVB-T2 so UK is going to have a new version of DVB-T2 different
from Germany and France one by end of this year? Any guidance on it?
Thanks,
Scott

Sound outputs on flat screen tv's
Sat, 10 Oct 2009 16:42:21 -0700
I'm hard of hearing and have a inductive loop system fitted in my room
working of the loud speaker socket (3.5mm) of an old CRT TV. which is still
active when the internal speakers are in the mute condition. I need this
facility because my wife likes to read while I watch TV.
I've been looking to replace the ...
