No Freeview for Elderly people since Sept. 30
Thu, 22 Oct 2009 14:29:14 +0100
Heard yesterday of 2 elderly non technical families that since Sept. 30 have
had to revert to analogue TV, they are not local to me so can't go and put
things in order for them, tried to help on phone but failed. They think
their TVs are faulty.
I wonder how many older people are like this, particulary when ...

DTI1000 lost Ch5 on 30 Sept
Thu, 22 Oct 2009 10:50:40 +0100
A friend with an old Thomson DTI1000 Freeview box retuned it on 30
September (or shortly thereafter) and lost channel 5. I thought at
first it might be a prob with that model, as it's so old, but a web
search didn't turn anything up. Any suggestions?

Anybody made or use a "Home Theatre" PC?
Wed, 21 Oct 2009 10:07:31 +0100
I use a Humax 9200 Freeview PVR, and a Humax Foxsat HDR Freesat PVR.
Both are arguably the best on the market (but let's not go off-topic and
argue that!), but both have infuriating bugs and annoyances. The 9200 is
years old now, and there's no sign that Humax are interested in offering any
more bug fixes. ...

Fed up rescanning Freeview
Wed, 21 Oct 2009 09:53:06 +0100
I had thought the rescans of 30th Sept. was the one to end all scans, how
wrong I have been.
Since then my set as asked to rescan twice.
What a poor system it is.
On satellite do not get this problem.

Freeview losing two BBC streams
Wed, 21 Oct 2009 08:43:50 +0000 (UTC)
Don't see this here - but it is being commented on a lot elsewhere!
The BBC are going to switch off two of the three streams it uses for "red
button" content from 27th October.
This will cause the loss of channel 302 and news multiscreen.

Luxor PVR
Wed, 21 Oct 2009 08:37:42 +0100
Just been given a Luxor 250GB DTT PVR that is displaying 'FAIL' on the
LEDs, anything I can do to revive it or should I just scrap it for the
HDD?
On a side note, a good example of dodgy aerial fitters, they turned out,
fitted a new 14 Ele (no idea of make or band etc. but given that they
only charged ¡ê38 f ...

TOT: BBC left wing bias in the One Show
Wed, 21 Oct 2009 02:14:53 +0100
In the item about veterinary treatments the presenter was wearing a teeshirt
with a huge CND logo. OK, so what? Well, CND is a political movement, allied
to the extreme left. I just can't imagine a presenter being allowed to wear
a teeshirt with Christian or right wing slogan or logo. The CND logo was so
big t ...

BBC Red Button
