Learning to read and write

My brother is 48 years old, 90% deaf, and never learnt even the basics of
reading and writing. He can lip read to a degree. He has started night
classes and is doing reasonably well, however, he doesn't get on with the
dictionary. He finds it difficult to pronounce the words and has had an idea
which he thinks ...

I am teaching my 1 year old son to use a cut down version of BSL. Both
as it enables us to communicate now whilst he can't actually talk and
also as I think it will be a useful skill later in life.
Whilst we are pretty well sorted for the every day signs for food and
drink etc, I am stuggling to find a goo ...
