Sky+ Box wants to go into standby when in use

Hi,
My wife has got a Sky+ box that in the last 2 days keeps displaying the
message "Box About to go into Standby, press Backup to Cancel" (or something
similar). This hasn't happened before and has never happened on my Sky+ box
in my office. Has anyone got any idea why this has started and can anything
be done ...

Thompson HD Box (to accept or REFUSE)?

Just out of interest does anybody know if the Thompson Sky+ (& importantly
HD) boxes that Sky may supply at the moment (currently), are these boxes
still being shipped with same power supply fault (faulty capacitors or
whatever)?
Or have they now got some new stock, without the problems?

There is a free ap. available which enables you to set recordings on your
Sky+ HD boxes remotely. I downloaded it today & it works great.
It takes a bit of faffing about to set up, but once done it is very easy to
use. For the setup only, you will need to connect your box to a phone

My Dad has got his own dish and currently has Sky. He lives in a block
of flats and recently they installed two new sky feeds on the wall
into his flat, plugged his sky into this and said he no longer needs
to use his dish.

Sky is *free* in my area at the moment, but they insist I have a telephone
point near to where the box will be.
Why ?
freesat doesn't need a telephone connection.
(I have read on the web that the line can interfere with other (ie. Orange)
broadband services.
I said I didn't want a telephone connection to the ...
