biting insect

Last night I was bitten twice by an insect that flew..and had a 5mm black
spike at its rear.
I have a garden pond and it came out in the semi gloom of late evening. The
bite is playing havoc with my leg.
Can anyone tell me what it is?.... and indeed what the best treatment for
this bite is that seems to be dev ...
