4WDs in snow

Hi all,
The recent snow has shown, for me at least, even more how useless these
gas-guzzling monstrosities are. The road up to Bromyard Down was
littered with abandoned 4WDs last Friday. So, not only are the majority
of 'drivers' of these things totally arrogant towards other road users,

At the risk of committing heinous crime in mentioning the Child
Benefit again.
I still feel it is a waste of our money to inform every parent in the
country that the Child Benefit has risen by a few pence. The sheer
cost of doing such a thing almost wipes away any benefit to parents if

Hi all,
Whilst clearing out my mother's house, I came across a Hoover 'Dustette'
small vacuum cleaner. It seems to be about 40 or 50 years old, and
therefore might interest someone as a museum piece. It works, but
suction isn't that marvellous. However, it was made when England had a
manufacturing industry ...

Bomb scare in Hereford - all city centre bridges closed

Does anyone recall a bomb scare in Hereford around 1991-3?
Allegedly devices were planted under the Greyfriars and Old Bridge, so
they were closed most of the afternoon and evening.
