Imac - Core2Duo. Display problems
Fri, 13 Nov 2009 09:18:52 +0000
Had a power cut last night right in the middle of a session on my iMac. On
reboot I find I now have a line across the screen where the pixels are a
lighter colour than the background. I have tried changing backgrounds.
Any ideas out there as to what could be the problem? Is it the end of life
for my Mac?

Wi-Fi question
Fri, 13 Nov 2009 00:36:08 +0000
After ordering a iPhone, we got a text from Orange, containing a code
that consists of upper and lower case text. Unfortunately it got erased
before I could read it, fortunately a copy was made. My wife thought it
was something to do with Wi-Fi. We have no idea what it's used for, we
didn't need it to join our ...

Google Earth is always night
Thu, 12 Nov 2009 23:37:09 +0000
Using Google Earth on Tiger...
It's always night. This started a while ago; Google Earth would
start in night view, but I could get it back to the normal daylight
view by doing "Switch to Sky" and then "Switch to Earth" again.
Now, even that doesn't work.
Any workarounds?

The Mac Sale

Hadn't noticed this particular Yet Another Bundle.
Once again, nothing really stands out, but then I never know in advance
what software will turn out to be a real boon.
I use Pixelmator in preference to Photoshop, for example (never expected
that!) but I've never used Intaglio.

VMware Fusion 3 and Vista resolution
Thu, 12 Nov 2009 14:36:22 +0000
Gave in to VMware and upgraded Fusion 2 to Fusion 3. Now, my Vista VM
insists on resetting to 1024x768 every time it is rebooted (I like to
run it at 1152x864). My XP VM is fine - that remains at 1152x864.
Anybody seen this or know how to fix?
Thanks,

Webcam support?
Thu, 12 Nov 2009 11:22:53 -0000
What's the state of webcam support in OS X thses days? Will most USB-based
cameras work? I've had a request for one on a new mac mini. The only one
on the Apple Store is a Logitech QuickCam Pro at ¡ê90, which seems somewhat
steep, although the specs are better than usual.
Cheers,
