X/ZTree equivalent in Linux..?
Tue, 25 Aug 2009 19:49:49 +0100
Having recently started to explore Linux after many moons with DOS and
Windows, I wonder if there is an equivalent out there to the excellent
XTree (DOS) and ZTree (Windows) programs..?
I've grown used to these and it would be a great advantage in exploring
the structure of the Linux filesystem.

mythtv box spec
Sun, 23 Aug 2009 21:36:54 +0000 (UTC)
hi,
I'm seriously considering binning my Sky service and building my own
mythtv setup. My Sky dish has 3 cables on it (previous house owner must
have had 3 Sky boxes, we only have one) so I assume I can create a back
end box with 3 capture cards.
What is the minimum spec (RAM, CPU) machine I'm going to need ...

Quiet general purpose + music laptops?
Sun, 23 Aug 2009 16:55:55 +0100
Hi,
I am looking to buy a new laptop and there are some specific preferences
and wishes I have for its properties. Alas, the info I find on the web
generally omits some of the key details of interest to me. So I am hoping
people here can advise and suggest a laptop or two that may suit.
The main preference/re ...

RAID too small, need more space, how?
Fri, 21 Aug 2009 08:55:07 -0000
There's a server here with four 73GB HDs in it. One HD is the root
drive, and the other three are in RAID 5+1. We're running out of space
in the array. There's only space for another two disks in the machine
(hot-swap SCSI bay).
If I add two drives to the array I can extend the capacity by 146GB
(doubling it's ...

Anyone using puppy? (Quick question)
Wed, 19 Aug 2009 08:32:00 +0100
Yes, there's a forum, but it's slow and a quick search doesn't show what I
want.
How do you turn off DHCP and manually asign an ip address etc? To a wireless
card.

Newsreader and Message-ID:
Mon, 17 Aug 2009 16:36:31 +0100
Hi all
Sorry to bother you all with this, but I'm stumped!
I'm setting up a box with PCLinuxOS 2009.2 and I'm looking for a
newsreader that supports the Message-ID:{googlegroups\.net} filter.
Even an add on such as NewsProxy for Windows would be excellent or if
anybody knows a way of filtering googlegroup ...

Thunderbird 3 - headers panel ridiculously large
Mon, 17 Aug 2009 09:51:13 +0100
The last Fedora 11 update upgraded Thunderbird to v3-beta-3 and the
message header panel (in between the mailbox list and the message body
in the classic view) has grown stupidly large. A couple of versions ago,
it was a sensible size - i.e., taking up the minimum space necessary.
But then it grew and wasted a ...
