Vanishing bookmarks

I fired up my browser the other night (Netscape 7.2), only to find to
my horror that all my bookmarks had disappeared and it was presenting
me with an empty bookmark file. After a couple of minutes of panic,
reason prevailed and a systematic search showed that it had become

Nero 5 will not recognise replacement DVD drive

I have replaced a defective DVD-RW drive with another one of the same make
and similar model.
Nero 5, supplied as part of Ulead Movie Maker, bundled with the PC, does not
offer the new drive in its list of destination drives - only the various
image writer formats are listed.

Recommendation wanted for USB sound card with line-in

The sound chip on my laptop has just died: after playing distorted sound and
then loud crackling, Windows no longer recognises the existence of any sound
input/output devices. Reinstalling the drivers has no effect, probably
because there's no device in Hardward Manager.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably good ...

Hi,
I've just bought a new motherboard and am not sure of my ground as
techniques have changed in the years since I last upgraded my
machine. My question then is -
The 1GHz DDR-II 240-pin RAM that I was given to fit to the board
is 800MHz but the board specification says that it supports
667/533/400 DDR2 but ...

Outlook 2007 on Vista causes PC to go into low-colour mode

I've just had an intriguing report from a customer whose Vista PC I upgraded
to SP1 earlier today. He didn't want me to stay until the rpgrade had
completed as it was taking a long time.
